The Global Learning Center (GLC)

The GLC will be our center of excellence for leadership development – not only for the leadership needs of our local leaders, but also for developing, training, and equipping leaders of other organizations and other countries. APII believes that as we train and equip organizations and believers who have been called for discipling & church planting, the result will be a great harvest among the masses of unreached people in North India. Training and equipping leaders has always been the driving force behind the CPM in North India. To continue and further accelerate the CPM, more leaders will need to be nurtured.

Why Varanasi?

Located on the banks of the Ganges River, Varanasi is one of the oldest cities in the world. No one knows exactly how long the city has existed, but it is believed that this city is well over 5,000 years old. Due to its location, Varanasi is considered a large hub city for travel.

Varanasi is a holy city in the Hindu religion. For example, Hindus believe that if they die and their cremated ashes are placed into the “holy” water of the Ganges, their soul will go directly to Nirvana, thus breaking the cycle of karma. For this reason, thousands of cremations or last rites occur each day along the ghats (steps) to the Ganges River in Varanasi. Due to all the pilgrimages to the Ganges River, Varanasi is a strategic center of culture, religion, and political influence.

Some additional characteristics of the city of Varanasi:

  • Cultural home to music, yoga, sitar, and tantric yoga.
  • Training center for Hindu priests.
  • Heart of the Indian carpet and silk industry.
  • Accessible by air, road and rail from any direction.
  • Imams (Muslim priests) are trained in Varanasi.
  • Varanasi is a strategic location for the ministry because Varanasi is also the hub of the Bhojpuri people. Reaching the city of Varanasi is foundational to reaching the Bhojpuri people as a whole. For this reason, the focus of the Church Planting Movement (CPM) among the Bhojpuri is located in and around this city. Successfully expanding and growing this CPM throughout the nation of India will hinge on how effective our leadership development strategies are deployed in Varanasi.
  • Strategies and Tactics

  • Strategy 1: Train and Equip Community Learning Center (CLC) Leaders
  • Strategy 2: Train and equip leaders at higher levels in the APII organization – CLC Supervisors, Mentors, and Zone Leaders.
  • Strategy 3: Train and Equip leaders from other organizations in India, Asia and around the world. As the center of excellence in the area of leadership development, the VMC will be the perfect venue for training other organizations.
  • For example, here is a story of how the concepts and strategies have been shared and implemented in a Southeast Asian country after being trained:

  • "I went to my friend's house today and the entire family was baptized. The wife was dying and emaciated. The family had spent all they had on doctors and I knew only the Lord Jesus could help them. We prayed for a miracle. When the Lord heals her, this family will be a gateway for 1 million people in their nation to discover Christ in Central Asia. The father has already led 115 families to Christ even though they had not yet been baptized. He told me that he will not return to his previous church because they said that he had to get rid of all his sins before they would allow him to be baptized. This is very very common in many traditional Asian churches. Traditional churches teach that one has to become clean before they can "graduate" and be washed. This is totally contrary to the Grace of Christ found in the New Testament. You get baptized not because you are clean but because you are dirty! Romans 5:20 I told Mr. RP that many many people in my home country are asking, "Are you ready to die for SadGuru Yeshu?" He said yes, so we gave him jal dikksha in Yeshu's name. My friend Mr. RJ has many persons of peace here who are ready to hear more. Also my friend and trainee Sister L has jump-started 12 house churches in the cyclone devastated area. In the past 3 months she has helped brother R, Mr. O, Sister S and Sister SH to baptize their Buddhist families and friends. They have now baptized 81 people and have 3 generations of new leaders in the past 3 months."
  • Our vision for the GLC is that we will partner with other ministries, seminaries, bible colleges and universities around the world to provide world-class training in these areas:

  • CLC Leader training for APII and for other organizations
  • Advanced Leadership Training
  • Master Trainers – Training for Trainers
  • Holistic Ministry Training
  • Cross-cultural and Multi-cultural Missions Training
  • Hindu, Buddhist and Islamic cultural education

The Lord has blessed us with the resources to purchase the land on which the VMC will be built.

To complete the project, we will need to build the facility, procure furnishings and equipment, and raise the funds to operate the facility on an on-going basis.

If you are interested in partnering with us on this project by becoming a financial partner, you can do so by visiting the 'DONATE' link at the top of this page or by clicking here.
