Bible Printing and Translation

Over the last 18 years, our organization in India has introduced, grown and developed an effective church planting movement (CPM) model in North India that has produced millions of new believers. This CPM started with a people and language group called the Bhojpuri. A key element of the strategy to reach the Bhojpuri was to translate and print the Word of God in the heart language of this people group. The Bhojpuri Bible (NT) was completed in 1998, with the full Bible in final editing.

With our language and people group focus, we are actively involved in these languages:

Hindi

Urdu

English

Bhojpuri

Maithili

Magahi

Awadhi

Bengali

Angika.

We continue to provide the Scriptures in local languages because we believe that God speaks to us in our mother tongue.

Our current translation and printing area of emphasis is the Magahi language. Unfortunately the Magahi (spoken by 25 million) do not have the Bible in their own language. This language has been a spiritual battle ground for centuries. The first attempt to translate the Bible into Magahi was started in the 1850's. Obviously, the evil one does not want this to happen.

For us to continue our mission of fulfilling the Great Commission, we have identified a critical need to translate, publish, print and distribute the complete Magahi Bible in a paraphrase version for easy reading. The Word of God in the heart language of this people group will accelerate the growth of CPM in North India, maintain the integrity of the Word, and promote literacy among the Magahi while they study the written Word of God together.

Current status of the Magahi translation:

Old and New Testament have been completed at the end of 2013.

Final editing process is underway, with field testing of the translation.

Current plan is to have the Magahi Bible finished and printed by Q1, 2015.

We are looking for partners who can assist us with the printing of the New Testaments in Magahi. Our plan is to print 2000 as the first edition. This will be distributed through a select group of leaders to get feedback on the translation. If that feedback is positive, the next printing will be 5 or 10 thousand, depending on funds available and costs to print.

Distribution Plans for the Magahi Translation:

Our organization in India has over 500 leaders in direct contact with church planters

Thousands of house churches have already been planted.

Our organization in India has trained and partnered with over 50 other grass roots organizations in North India.

Conferences

Bhojpuri, Magahi, Awadhi, Bengali, Urdu and Urban Youth

The vision for each of our conferences is to encourage, empower and inspire the men and women who are serving the Lord in their communities in Northern India. Most of our Christian leaders in Northern India operate independently for 51 weeks of the year. By providing these Christian leaders of India with an opportunity to join in fellowship we are able to equip them for their roles on the “front lines” of evangelism throughout Northern India.

The goal of each conference is:

Encouragement. Coming from mostly small villages, our leaders will participate in

a large community of national leaders. It is critically important for these men and

women to encourage one another through fellowship, prayer, worship, and Bible study.

Empowerment. Relationships that are established at these conferences empower our

leaders. Accountability relationships are established. Training and equipping tools

are provided for these leaders. Ideas are exchanged that enable these leaders to

adapt to a changing environment. Leaders will leave the conference with individual

goals for the next year, and accountability for these goals will also be established.

Inspiration. These conferences allow leaders to worship God as part of a larger

community. They are inspired by seeing that they are part of a much bigger picture.

Leaders leave the conferences with a renewed energy and strength – ready to continue

toward the prize and finish the race.

Community Learning Center:

  • A Community Learning Center is an initiative to help create awareness among the members of the community about their role in meeting the spiritual needs of their own community.
  • This is not a Bible school or seminary. The CLC provides a non-formal atmosphere for the training of Church Planters.
  • CLC’s encourage and train disciples.
  • The engine behind the CPM is leadership development, with a particular focus on reproductive leadership. Leaders are developed at the CLC.
  • CLC’s foster mentoring relationships. Mentoring and coaching relationships become critical lifelines for young people. Some will find the one-hour-a-week approach adequate, but for others, this will not be nearly enough.
  • The CPM Strategy in Delhi is summarized by the following tasks, objectives, and outcomes. The location of these tasks is shown by a CLC or UYMC identifier to show where this activity takes place:

  • Mobilizing prayer, prayer walks to create a community of prayer. CLC and UYMC
  • Find the man of Peace within the community/target group. UYMC
  • Reach out to the community to identify specific social receptiveness, thereby opening a dialog toward a friendship/relationship. UYMC
  • Non-threatening dialog is required for building relationships. UYMC
  • Bring individual relationships together as a group for collaboration. UYMC
  • Look for opportunities to begin a spiritual dialogue. UYMC
  • Begin discipling those who respond positively and show interest. UYMC
  • Gather those who become obedient to Christ. UYMC to CLC
  • Select leaders from this group. CLC
  • Begin the process of Disciples discipling others. CLC
  • Teach and develop a culture of empowerment and not creating dependency. CLC
  • Focus on building leaders among tentmakers. CLC
  • Pass on the DNA of CPM. This is the process of leaders producing more leaders and churches producing more churches as a normal part of leading and church planting. CLC
  • Maximize the services of volunteers. CLC and UYMC
  • Since 2009, the Spirit of God is moving in this area. Over 10,000 urban youth are new believers in Christ, 14 CLC’s have been opened, and 2 UYMC’s are ministering to young people. Here are just a few of the testimonies from young urbanites whose lives have been changed by the Spirit:

  • Two young men Rohit and Ramesh were into all kinds of addiction and were wasting their lives. They met one of our CLC leaders, who began to counsel them, within a month their lives were changed and after few days, they began to disciple others and have started fellowship in their area.
  • Jacob completed his graduation. He was so depressed because of being jobless. Through personal counseling God has worked in his life. Now he has become a church planter and sharing with his friends.
  • Kalpna recently completed her MBA, B.Ed. Due to family problem she was depressed and felt that her future was dark. But the Lord placed her in our path, and she got in touch with our counselors at an UYMC. We were able to change her perspective and give her hope. Now she sees a bright future, and volunteers at the UYMC while helping other youth.
  • A passionate, vibrant, young marketing professional Priya is a professor at a local university and also works as a consultant with different universities and secular firms. After attending a conference that we sponsored, her comment was “I‘ve got many things to learn from you all as I am very new in faith, but I am passionate to share my testimony to young people about how God changed my life.” She is being mentored and discipled - clarifying her doubts and queries from scripture. She wants to make an impact on many more people in the elite faculty of society.
  • Ethesh is a 15 year old boy. He was depressed and not a very good student. He was aimless without any goals in life. He had decided to commit suicide. But one of our CLC Leaders met him and counseled him and made him understand the value and importance of life and helped him come out of his depression. With regular counseling he started showing a positive response. Now he is regular in school and doing well with his studies and now he has a purpose and goal in life to live and excel in all that he does. He and his family are very thankful to us for guiding and helping him.
